Read Your Books Quickly via Audiobooks by Gina, Teen Blogger

We’re almost at the end of summer already; the time flies by! Are summer camps and programs out there keeping you busy? I hope they’re not so thrilling that you guys don’t get enough time to read!

I made a goal to finish a list of books before the summer break ends and it’s not easy because my busy schedule gives me no time so I’m reading at a slow pace right now. There will be no way I’m going to finish this list before September comes but luckily, I discovered audiobooks on smartphones!

There is an App used by libraries and schools all over the world called OverDrive Media Console. You can download Overdrive Media Console from the OverDrive website or from your device's App store (Editor's note: for more information on how to download OMC to your specific device, see the OverDrive Help page). With this App, anyone with a Halifax Public Libraries library card can download audiobooks and eBooks from the library. Audiobooks come in very handy in so many situations. You can listen to your book when:

  • Surrounded by a noisy environment.
  • Your eyes are greatly stressed.
  • You want to improve your listening skills—the audiobook speakers who do the readings are from all over the world so there are many different accents.

OverDrive Media Console currently supports the following devices:

  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • iPod touch
  • Android
  • Windows Phone
  • Blackberry
  • Playbook
  • Nook
  • Mac
  • Windows

Now you can “read” those books quicker without missing any details!

Enjoy rest of your summer!
