Volunteers Needed for Children’s Reading Support

Sackville Public Library is looking to add Reading Support Volunteers

If you love reading and children, consider becoming a volunteer tutor in the Children's Reading Support program. Just a small commitment of time can help a child build reading confidence and a love of books that will last a lifetime.

Support needed now

As of December 2024, we are seeking applicants for Children's Reading Support at Sackville Public Library on Wednesday afternoons.

You can learn more about the opportunity and fill out your application.

Build a love of reading

In all of our children’s and teen programs, Halifax Public Libraries provides a safe, supportive, and fun environment for youth to strengthen academic skills. We use a mix of formal and informal approaches to help youth explore creativity, play, connect with others, and develop life skills. We aim to have a positive and lifelong impact.

Children’s Reading Support is a key part of this youth-literacy plan. The program is a one-on-one weekly tutoring for youth in Ages 8-12. You can explore the full volunteer description

Please note: You must be 19 years of age or older to volunteer in this program, and all volunteers will require a Criminal Record Check.
