How Home Delivery helps

Home Delivery is a free service for Halifax Regional Municipality residents who are unable to visit a Halifax Public Libraries branch due to disability, long-term illness, or caregiver responsibilities. Participants are visited by Library volunteers every three weeks, and receive their latest selections of books, magazines, music and books on CD, DVDs or Blu-Rays, and other specialty items.

How you can deliver as a volunteer

Friendly, outgoing, and dedicated, Home Delivery volunteers travel their local area, bringing smiles, connection, and Library items to grateful participants.

Every three weeks, you'll pick up pre-packaged items from the Library for delivery to several Home Delivery clients, and you'll collect items from clients and return them to Library.

Volunteers use their own vehicles and fuel.

No experience is necessary. We provide training and support for all our volunteers!

Please note: You must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer in this program. If you’re younger, take a look at our many Teen Volunteer Opportunities
