When we get to part of adding finishing touches to a renovation, the vision comes to life. The week of July 25, we're adding some key elements to the main lobby area.
Public Art by Jason Skinner
On Friday, July 29, the public art piece near the main Alderney entrance will be installed. Jason Skinner submitted the successful proposal and has created a small flock of seagulls out of library discards in a style similar to Eric Carle.
More plants for seating area
Planters have been added to the edge of the elevated section of the main lobby seating area. Soon lots of plants will rest in their final homes and bring in more nature to an already bright and open space. We expect many will enjoy having all of the greenery surrounding them.
Universal washroom update
The public washroom will be open very soon. No keys will be needed and its location is convenient for last minute pit stops for rushing commuters and bustling families. We simply have to clean the dust away and make sure it all works for you.
Construction note for July 29: As this work is high up (on the second storey above the public sink), the installer will be using a lift. That area, including the sink, garbage cans, and library returns slot, will be cordoned off for the day.
