Make music with your library card
Sun Life Financial and Halifax Public Libraries have teamed up for a musical venture. Sun Life Financial has donated 150 new instruments to our collection in an effort to make the arts more accessible to our community.
Violins, guitars, ukuleles, keyboards, doumbeks, mandolins, banjos, and bongos in varying sizes are now available to be borrowed from all 14 branches. Just like a book, instruments can be checked out with a library card and loaned for 3-week periods. The collection will also feature a special guitar donated by JUNO and East Coast Music Award-winning artist, Joel Plaskett.
Donate to the collection
An instrument donation drive will run from July 11 to August 11, 2018. New and gently used instruments can be donated to all Halifax Public Libraries’ branches and Long & McQuade Halifax for inspection and repairs before being added to our collection.
