On December 7, 2019, J.D. Shatford Memorial Public Library supporters, fans, and past and present staff members showed up to celebrate 50 years of this "community hub" being part of the Hubbards community.
Local music filled the air, along with stories of years past and hopes for the future. Mayor Mike Savage summed up the spirit of the day and the essence of the J.D. Shatford Memorial Public Library when he said, "These libraries and these services are really important to us. As I travel in the world, I go to libraries. And it’s the community libraries like this one, that I really get a kick out of. They’re the heart of communities.”
We were pleased to unveil a new mural, community art section, and television for Library info-sharing at this special event.
