The Hobbit Movie by Anna, Teen Blogger

The Hobbit - movie cover

The Hobbit, an Unexpected Journey, was an amazing movie. It was also incredibly long considering that it was only the first of the three movies that are to tell the story of The Hobbit. The movie was elongated by the inclusion of some elements and characters that were not present in the novel; however these additions were so good that I didn’t mind the changes at all.

We have come to expect spectacular scenery from the Lord of the Rings franchise and this movie did not disappoint; the scenery was breathtaking.  The journey through the mountains had a lovely backdrop, Rivendell was a beautiful as ever, and the brief adventure into the territory of the goblins showed an amazingly extensive realm with the mountain. The Hobbit- book cover

The acting was also superb. The dwarves were wonderfully played, managing to be funny but yet still not taking away from the gravity of the situation they were in. Thorin was different than I had imagined him, but he was an amazing character in the movie. They included a bit more back story about him, which developed his character nicely. Golumn was as lovely as ever, and his interaction with Bilbo was hilarious but also had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Bilbo was exactly as I had pictured him when reading the book; he was incredible. The Hobbit - graphic novel

Overall, I loved the movie. I would recommend it to everyone, whether they have read the book or not (although you really should read the book, it is wonderful).  Be prepared for a long movie, and be prepared to thoroughly enjoy it.
